Frequently Asked Questions
Emergency Visit
If you have an Emergency, call us immediately at 04 321 0799 or 04 348 3799.
Do I need an appointment for emergency visits?
An appointment is not required for emergency treatment. However, we strongly recommend calling ahead to let us know you’re on your way. This allows our emergency team to prepare for your pet’s arrival so we can provide the quickest possible care.
What can I expect upon arrival?
Depending on the severity of your pet’s condition, you may either meet with one of our veterinary surgeons in a consultation room, or your pet may be taken directly to our Intensive Care Unit for immediate life-saving treatment. As soon as possible, a veterinary surgeon or staff member will speak with you to gather important information about your pet’s condition.
What happens when my pet is admitted into the hospital?
If your veterinary surgeon determines it’s necessary, they may recommend that your pet stays in our hospital for continuous care and monitoring while you return home. We understand how difficult it is to leave your beloved pet, but hospitalisation is often essential – just like it is for humans. Rest assured, we use multiple communication channels to keep you as informed as possible while your pet is under our care.
What are your visiting hours?
We understand that your schedule may be busy, and you want to check in on your pet. To accommodate this USVC does not have formal visiting hours; instead, we aim to arrange visits at a time that works for you. We kindly ask that you let us know in advance when you’d like to visit, so we can ensure that a veterinary surgeon is available to provide you with an in-person update.
General Questions
Do you offer general services?
Yes! USVC offers a comprehensive range of general veterinary services. This includes vaccinations, microchipping, spays, castrates, and general consultations.
Which animals do you treat?
We primarily care for dogs and cats, but we’re also experienced with rabbits, guinea pigs, other small mammals and small birds. For more exotic animals, we recommend specialised exotic animal clinics in Dubai. If you need help finding one, feel free to give us a call, and we’ll be happy to assist.
What are your opening hours?
We’re open 24/7, 365 days a year! A highly qualified veterinary surgeon is always on-site here at USVC, so you can visit whenever you need. We strongly recommend calling us at 04 321 0799 to book an appointment or to let us know you’re on your way.
How does pet insurance work?
While we don’t offer our own insurance or have affiliations with any insurance providers, we’re happy to assist with the necessary paperwork for your pet’s insurance claim. After a consultation, hospitalisation, or procedure, you’ll need to submit the completed forms to your insurance company for reimbursement. Please note that we do not offer direct billing, so full payment is required at the time of service.
What are my payment options?
You can pay in person using cash, credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard), or PayNow. If you’re not on-site, payment can be made via bank transfer or a secure email link to pay via ApplePay, GooglePay, or card. Additionally, we also work with Tabby, which allows you to pay in instalments.
Referral Visit
What is a veterinary referral?
A veterinary referral works much like a medical referral in human healthcare. Essentially, it involves a primary care veterinarian, in consultation with the pet owner, organising the transfer of the pet to a referral facility for advanced hospitalisation, surgery, imaging, or other procedures that the primary vet cannot provide. Pet owners can also choose to seek a referral on their own. After the referral procedure, the pet will return to their primary care veterinarian for follow-up care.
At USVC, we offer a wide range of advanced procedures, including 24/7 emergency and critical care, surgery, internal medicine, and imaging services such as a CT scanner. Additionally, we are closely connected with a network of specialist partners both globally and locally within the UAE. If your pet requires services beyond what USVC offers, we’ll be there to guide and support you every step of the way.
Why have I been referred to USVC for advanced care?
Your primary care veterinarian is highly skilled and capable of managing most health concerns your pet may encounter. However, certain cases may require focused care, 24/7 monitoring, or advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities that your regular clinic may not offer. Sometimes, a fresh perspective from an experienced team is needed for complex issues. These are just a few reasons why your vet may have referred you to USVC.
What can I expect during my pet’s first referral visit?
Before your visit, our team will typically have already reviewed a brief from your primary care veterinarian, your pet’s medical history, and any previous diagnostics. During the initial consultation with one of our veterinary surgeons, you’ll have the chance to discuss the issue in detail and share any concerns. From there, our veterinary surgeon will develop a clear, actionable plan with specific steps to help you and your pet.
